Lol I can't believe Mary Roach interviewed Dr. Oz. I didn't realize that he was an actual practicing doctor, apparently this was published before he started making TV appearances and spouting pseudoscience.

This book was doing so well with the queer rep, so it's extra annoying that as soon as Kissen and Elo start to catch feelings for each other, the queer rep seems to disappear and their romance starts following the standard heteronormative fantasy plot beats.

My no spoilers reaction to the ending

Oh. Oh my god. That was intense in a way that isn't normally in my wheelhouse, but I enjoyed this so, so much.
