This is going to sound so very heartless but I don't understand how Gracie is the one that is making both of them so desperate. She does not seem any more or less interesting or worthy of love than the family members they have had before. It feels like a big hole in the story.

trying to read this while stoned out of your mind and melting in the bathtub is certainly a choice you can make. don’t know that you should.

I love this story idea, and I really appreciate that we get glimpses into their past lives. The fact that they can come back as any gender is a refreshing aspect that I really appreciate. That said, I'm a quarter of the way in and I don't feel very connected to Evelyn.

I was actually enjoying this to begin with but it's starting to become a drag. I think part of the issue is I already know how the story will end, it's very predictable because Austen's books have predictable endings. Don't get me wrong, Austen's characters are interesting and I love the social commentary, but plot wise it's a bit droll (to use her words) for me. I'm gonna force myself to keep going because I told someone I'd read it but... I don't know, hopefully something gets better about it? I know there's some plot twists coming up soon so we'll see how that goes.

I had a great time reading this book. If you're looking for classic literature, look somewhere else. If you're not a fan of a lot of dialogue, also look somewhere else. But if you enjoy a quick, fun, sweet read that doesn't demand too much of you, I think you will like this one. I found the humor and the banter delightful (It kept reminding me of the quick dialogue of Gilmore Girls and West Wing, if that gives you an idea) and it truly is an enemies to lovers story. The worldbuilding could use more structure and the characters do not immediately present with much depth, but I found their story fun to follow and their growth in line with the pace of the plot. I'm looking forward to the next installment due next year.
