I went into this book with a little higher expectations considering it blew up online a few years ago… I found it a bit overrated. This book was written similarly to another Japanese short story novel I read called “We’ll Prescribe You a Cat”, but it just wasn’t as good. Without spoilers, there were a lot of plot constraints that prevented this book from reaching its full potential. Some positives: I do think this would be a good short book for people getting into reading though! And the last ~10 pages were a nice wrap up and made me tear up a bit, just didnt think it made up for the rest.

Wow wow wow. This book was PHENOMENAL. It’s crazy how attached you get to some characters in this book even though it is a standalone. The entire plot had me tearing up a lot at random times. It really showed the importance of compassion, hope, and teamwork, especially in a time of existential crisis. Absolutely loved the charisma and writing style of this book, it made it so easy to stay engaged. And let me just say FINALLY a book where the author did their research/has a personal passion for the science detailed in the book. I felt like I actually understood all the scientific reasoning and for the parts I didn’t, it still made some logical sense. AMAZE!!!

“Do you want me to fight for you? Is that it?” “No… I want you to leave me alone” STOOOOOP NO NO NO. I’m not a fan of dumb love triangles, but at least be nice to your friend, girl!!
