Hello pagebounders!! Well, I've come across a lot of videos recently talking about the cons and pros of BookTok and Bookstagram. But what I want to know is, in your opinion, does it do more harm than help to the book community? I think for me since I'm only in Bookstagram it doesn't really harm the book community since these kind of people are not very popular there however I've seen a few. However I don't know how it is in Booktok, can someone tell me??

I tried to add a couple of books earlier and it came back with an error saying Goodreads doesnāt allow this anymore! Is this an issue anyone else ran into today or is it just me? xD
EDIT: Glad to know Iām not the only one!! Hopefully the PB team finds a new solution soon! š¤

Wildflower is a cozy fantasy story of an Ella Enchanted-esque spell that binds the main character to always telling the truth. There is mischief amok, and the FMC must muddle through it all. This story was a standard cozy fantasy with more summer vibes.
Our FMC was unfortunately not very interesting to me. She acted like she was 14-16 years old and was so irritatingly naive. The villain was beyond apparent from the beginning, and the FMC's willingness to provide dangerous materials (rare flowers) to an anonymous source baffled me. The acceptance of her friends being horrible also depressed me. I didn't really want her to have a romantic relationship with the MMC; what she really needed was at least one good friend! I didn't really feel strongly about any character by the end of the book, and wish we got more of the cat characters.
I was moving quickly through this book and was interested in how the story was playing out until the halfway mark when the momentum crumbles. It was a real slog for me to get through the story past this point, and I felt myself disengage more and more as the storyline unraveled. There were compelling teases in the worldbuilding and political system and landscape, but the author shifted to a very predictable and not particularly effectual ending. The writing was also very uneven. So much of the story was the author telling us exactly what a character was thinking, feeling, and experiencing rather than demonstrating and showing through the writing.
I did appreciate that this was a queernormative world with positive representation. If you are interested in a lighter YA cozy fantasy story, you might be interested in this book. There are pieces of this book that could make a much more interesting story, and I hope the author is able to develop their craft more in future releases.
Thank you, Del Rey, Random House Worlds, Inklore, for the arc!

Hi all. I'm having some big feels today and I thought, who better to commiserate with than Boundlings?
I work for a small public library in the US. We have been fighting our governing body on a monthly basis, begging them not to cut our funding, but last night our luck finally ran out. We will be losing roughly 1/3 of our total budget for the upcoming fiscal year.
As is the case in many other libraries worldwide, we're already operating on the thinnest margin possible, so bearing the brunt of such a sweeping reduction is going to HURT. Our staff members are underpaid and don't have benefits, our building hasn't been renovated in something like 60 years, and we don't have nearly enough space or money to consistently serve our patrons/community in the ways they deserve.
I'm not really going anywhere important with this thread - I just feel extremely disheartened, scared, and annoyed. An alarming percentage of the general public is functionally illiterate and you're eliminating LIBRARY FUNDING as your first line of defense?! What a world.......................

I thought my standards had lowered since I have been giving very high ratings this year, but nope: I just had a really lucky streak until last month. Anyway, this book sucks. I already said this and I'll say it again, this isn't dark romance, this is abuse. Kerian belongs in a jail, and this is coming from someone who loves reading gangster romance. He's just a psychopathic, rich brat; he may keep on stressing how he isn't taking any money from his parents, but he kept the car they gifted him and inherited his grandparents money so he surely ain't as fucking poor as he claims to be. All of his internal monologues are creepy, lots of crap like "I always get what I want","He's my property" and don't get me started on the whole dubious consent. The guy made clear that he wasn't going to let Zander go if he rejected his advances. Let's add lots of stalking(he's aware of it and doesn't even give a fuck under the excuse that "he's aware he's a psychopath"),possessiveness and vulgar display of violence on people who in most cases don't even deserve it. Let's take the random guy who was hanging out with Zander for example,Mr. "I don't do relationship" got jealous, stalked the guy and beat him up,leaving him half dead in a dark alley. The author had the audacity to try and make me believe the guy deserved it cause "he was buying drugs, drugs are bad", bro was just minding his business trying to get high š And Kerian made it clear that he would have beat him up anyway cause he was too friendly with Zander. I read books with criminal characters who had way better morals than this mf. The guy is just evil for the sake of it,but ofc he has a magic dick or whatever,so Zander forgives him and "is only gay for him",how freaking much do i despise the "I'm straight for everyone, except you" troupe cause hell you don't need to label everything, but you sure af aren't straight if you like kissing men??? I would rather the guy saying he would rather not be labeled than saying this bs. Also, the writing style is too pretentious and overcomplicated for what's clearly toxic p*rn with a sorry attempt at plot. The first two chapters at least were funny from how absurd and kind of bad they were, but then Kerian became creepy. Too bad cause there were interesting side characters and Zander is kind of cute af,but it all goes to waste considering that apparently the side characters are only there so that Kerian can humiliate and treaten to fuck Zander in front of them. Again, characters can be unapologetically evil, but in this context it's all kinds of wrong. It's a mf sports romance, not a thriller. What annoys me the most is that they want me to think that such behavior is hot,nah man it's only edgy af š«©
