This book was gifted to me. Since it's from the same author as Momo i was really excited to read it. And just like in Momo, I really enjoyed the writing and vivid, fantastical images. I'd say it's a very creative take on a selfdiscovery story. I was all here for Atrejus arch, but after Bastian joined, I felt pretty annoyed at him most of the times. I know, it's part of the story and meant to teach some important lessons, but I just couldn't enjoy this character. I wish this story would've just taken place in the fantasy world. I would totally read all the other stories, Ende hinted at as a running gag. 🤩

Momo is a feel good story. Even though it's kind of a heros tale, and little Momo has to go through some not so great times...it still feels like everything's going to be okay in the end. I've read the book in german and I just love the authors writingstyle and use of language. It's feels like a trip down to memorylane. Very colorful, imaginative, and metaphorical and I'm all here for it. ❤️

Got the book for school. Now it's more than ten years later that I reread it. I really enjoy the concept of survival, in all kinds of media. So this story is no exception. It gave me journal vibes and that was surprisingly refreshing for my tastes. The reader follows along Karanas years on the deserted island, only accompanied by a few island animals. It feels really inspiring to learn, that even a little girl can survive alone on an island by herself, if she has no other choice. It shows how much potential we have as human beings and that feels very reassuring.

I really enjoyed the book, because it's so relatable. At times I felt strangely connected to Allegra, in the way she thinks and acts. The story feels very personal, authentic and immersive. The author created a wonderful little peak in someone elses life, to show, that everyone struggles from different things but at the end of the day, we all seek meaningful connections with other peole.

I really love these kinds of simple, yet deep meaningful stories. 🌼 Also was lucky to see a musical based on it 🌹
