What is your all time favorite classic you have read (dusty or modern)? [to me: objectively- the count of Monte cristo but subjectively- The amateur cracksman by EW Hornung]
But also what is your least favorite classic you’ve read? (Such as one you were made to read at school) [to me: probably gone with the wind as I never actually did finish that one despite it being a “required reading” twice 🫢 I tried I swear!]
And most importantly why are these your fav./least favorite?

I just started and I can't believe how beautiful the prose is! It has this rhythm to it, almost like it's meant to be spoken aloud rather than read. (I'm listening to the Audibook in tandem while reading, which is performed by Ruby Dee, which is of course, legendary)
But what's really getting me is Nanny. That heart aching speech she gives Janie. The sheer weight of everything she's trying to protect her from, all that fear and love! I was SO choked up and I'm barely into the book, I hardly know the characters yet. I wasn't ready for it to hit me in the feels this hard, this fast.
Is this just how the whole book feels?? Did anyone else get emotional right out of the gate, or am I extra tender today? 🥹
