I’m really not understanding this book. Like I get the plot, I understand the concepts of the unknowns or whatever but the writing style is just…not clicking. I simultaneously feel like I’m reading someone’s first draft and an over edited 25th edition. I’ll power through a few more chapters and see where it takes me but currently this book is not living up to the expectations I had going into it.

I'm really conflicted on the "feel good" moments that keep happening. Like I want to enjoy the nice moment but the memory of the bad chapters just keeps looming over like a dark cloud and I can't really fully enjoy them.

I really liked this book but I will admit the naming conventions made it a little hard to follow at parts. I think the concept of not using names added to the unsettling atmosphere of the book, but sometimes I found myself disconnecting from the characters because I couldn't really create the idea of them in my head. I think if the names were a little shorter it would be easier to follow but when someone's name is essentially a sentence it can kind of disrupt the flow of the whole text each time they are brought up. That being said, the atmosphere and the themes of this book are superb and it’s so short I don’t think having to reread a few sentences here and there stops it from being worth the read. The horror was entertaining albeit not very scary, unsettling is more the word I would use. The body horror was great though, especially at the ending.
