Probably not a popular opinion but I find the book really boring⦠the world building is weak imo. BUT I do enjoy her writing style. Does that make sense? Maybe because the author is British PERHAPS? š
Iām happy I listened to the audio and didnāt read the book because I probably would have DNFā¦

I've tried several times now to eat while reading and the only time I've managed to do this successfully is when the book in question was in an audio format. If I'm reading a physical book, I'm always at a loss at how I should flip the pages without having to do a whole lot of shuffling so that I don't rip the page or get food on it by accident. And then I'm supposed to... use one arm to just... hold it up the entire time I'm reading?? š¤ That gets so exhausting so quickly! And this issue isn't really made any better with ereaders either. Sure, they're a lot better because you don't have to try to hold a heavy book open, but you still have to touch it in some capacity, and trying to prop it up with something else doesn't really work, and my kindle's slammed down on the table more than once from me accidentally knocking it over. Maybe this is just more of a 'me' thing since I have a tendency towards finger food (been getting really into sandwiches lately in particular!) but reading while eating continues to baffle me. Props to people who manage to do it without much issue, and what is your secret... And to the people who have tried but failed... be honest, how much food did you get on your book š«£

I know itās been a while since I read the first book - but I feel like the tone for this one has aged up a bit? Not that I donāt mind - it just feels different

I have a theoretical question for my fellow gamer bookworms. What book would you like to play as a videogame? I've been reading the prequel to The Priory of the Orange Tree, and it made me think... Damn it would be an awesome rpg. If it were something similar to Baldur's Gate 3 or South of Midnight I would pass away. I love to dream about this sometimes haha. I'm curious what y'all would love as a game. āØ
Edit: Someone said your suggestions would make a great list, so here it is! https://pagebound.co/lists/3d0e5355-04e5-4e30-9555-aaf0a55bafdb Thank you for your contribution!:))

Can I just immediately reread this so I never have to leave this world? This is the best book Iāve read in a long time. Donāt want to give much away but OMG.

Almost at the end of this book, but I feel while reading this, the time runs faster, or I read way slower than usual. My page count is half of what I can normally read in the time period. I think the language used in the book is a bit more difficult, and English is not my 1st language. But I do read most of the books in English, so I don't know. Did anyone else feel the same. I do love the book, so I'm always surprised by it.

Does the series get better or should I just call it quits after this one and watch the tv show?

What a conclusion to an epic series.
I need to note that my rating for characters transcends the 5 stars. Jay Kristoff writes characters in such a compelling way that you canāt help but fall in love with some and happily hate but also be interested in their story with others. You get so invested in their story, their relationships, their personalities and the reasoning for their actions, everything revolves around the characters and everything they do has a purpose.
Story wise, I struggled a bit with the first half of the book, the pacing was a little patchy and I wasnāt super invested in the story. There were also a few twists that I found a little obvious and werenāt as shocking as I wanted them to be. The second half, however, completely emended that. There was so much happening that changed the trajectory of the story and made it even more interesting to read, so many plot points that were connected and here we really got some plot twists that were truly unexpected. The writing was just as beautiful as the rest of the series, and it really elevated the quality of the story.
One thing about Kristoff is that he will make you question everything, even when you think you have things figured out, and this book gave us exactly that. And a lot of crying, but that was a given.
