Started off with an interesting premise to be honest but devolved into, at least for me, a quite bland ending? Like it felt very hollow to me in a sense that after everything that happened, there wasnt much of a sense of reward looking at the characters in the end.
A lot of the prose was well written and quite interesting to be honest and I was always so curious about Abitha, but I didn’t feel much at the peak of everything happening. It wasn’t a terrible book, and I walked into it blind, so I had no expectations at all, and somehow it wasn’t all that I’d hoped it would be as I read through it. Bit of a meh ending, though I understand a lot of people enjoyed it, and I respect that, I unfortunately cannot share the same sentiments. I don’t regret reading it though, it was interesting to read about Paganism in this sense too!

I started this book on March 30 and I was already kind of in a reading slump in general. No idea what the book was about btw just went in blind.
Today, at 1 am I decided “let me finish this book so I can read this random series I’ve been curious about”
It is 4 am. I am sobbing. My dumbass inhaled this book and I am sobbing at 4am.
10/10 read, it’s better when you go in blind but god DAMN 😭

I love these genres of horror-esque stories that seem so disconnected at first but then it’s revealed that they were connected all along. Really fun and quick read, I enjoyed this book so much 🩷

When will these guys ever have a moment of peace HAAHAH it’s like they unearth new species of cryptids on every square inch of land they step on

The characters was a bit low for me in rating simply because there were so many “A” characters and my brain kept trying to force a connection where there was none HAHAHAHA but the main ones we follow through the story were incredible enough that even as initials, they stood out pretty well.
Everything else? Bomb as hell, Im so glad I randomly stumbled upon this book on twitter. Didnt know anything about it, and seeing how quickly it spread through word of mouth (or….word of finger??? since it was on twitter HAHAHAHA idk) made me want to read it so badly. It was good enough that now I have to look for a physical copy, since I read this on my ereader. Honestly great story, the scare wasnt instant, rather it was a slow growing feeling that slithered from my ankles all the way to the back of my neck and settled in the folds of my brain

It’s been so long since I sat down and read a whole book in one sitting, but because I was in a 7hour flight going back home, I was at my leisure. Gripped my neck from the intro alone and dragged me all the way to the end. My eyes hurt so bad from the strain but I couldn’t for the life of me stop????? I just kept reading and the connections made along the way honestly excited me so much. Of course the plane was pitch black at this point, so it really set the tone for me in the book. I dont often read horror but this was crazy good. Got a little shiver at the end.
Anyways, to those reading this, thank you for finding me :)

First time I’ve read anything in relation to medieval horror and can I say????? Oh my god????? First of all the sense of humor is killing me. Second, the chapter on the ones who knock by night (there’s a Walter White reference in there somewhere lmao) SCARED THE EVER LIVING SHIT OUT OF ME????? Hated it, it gave me shivers I cannot explain, I had to pause and take a moment HAHAHAHA but what a great start. I didn’t stop reading until 38% in because I got a headache but whoa
