Firstly, I have to acknowledge that it took me 2 years to finish this book. So obviously, that affected my reading experience and my rating. I probably would have enjoyed this a lot more if I'd read it more recently, because I put this down as I was bored, annoyed and frustrated. Since then, I have read and enjoyed more slow-paced, political books. So I have a feeling I will enjoy this more whenever I decide to reread this trilogy in future. (It's Sanderson. It's fair to assume that I will definitely reread this at some point.)

That being said, to the review. The best thing for me was the magic system which I really enjoyed reading about. There were also some good character arcs. I liked Elend's more than Vin's because it felt realistic. I did like Vin's but it felt a bit repetitive after a while and I felt really frustrated whilst reading this. I really enjoyed her interactions with OreSeur and Sazed. The other characters I enjoyed reading about to.

The plot twists in the end were great and I'm really intrigued to see what happens next. Having read The Stormlight Archive, I'm pretty sure I know which direction the plot is going to go.

Overall, I don't have many thoughts but I'm excited to read on and also to reread this someday because I think I'll enjoy it more.

I enjoyed the political subplot more than the romance. There were some great twists and I'm intrigued to see how this ends.

Picking this up back up 2 years after I started reading this and I’m confused. I remember what was happening vaguely but this is going to be frustrating until I get back into the story. Hopefully the plot picks up a bit!

This was even better than I anticipated and I had high expectations going into just because I had heard so many good things! The characters were smart and they feel equally balanced which I just love! I was on the edge of my seat and just so intrigued to see where the plot would go. I really liked the artwork and honestly, the one thing I’d like more of is to have smart female characters which was lacking in this. But overall, I’m excited to pick up the next volumes and see what happens!
