Host by Kiran Millwood Hargrave - 2 stars
Inferno by Laura Shepard-Robinson - 3 stars
The Old Play by Andrew Michael Hurley - 2.5 stars, possible 3 stars if I didn't fall asleep multiple times
A Double Thread by Imogen Hermes Gowar - 2.5 stars
The Salt Miracles by Natasha Pulley - 2.5 stars, could have sworn left right and center she promoted this book with an excerpt of her story and it involved thaniel & mori from watchmaker and that would've been much better imo
Banished by Elizabeth Macneal - 3.5 stars, one of the best ones since it deals with the haunted feeling very well
The Gargoyle by Bridget Collins - 2 stars
The Master of the House by Stuart Tutton - 4 stars, easily the best story + unique concept and you don't feel sorry for the MC
Ada Lark by Jess Kidd - 2 stars
Jenkin by Carriona Ward - 3.5, lets go lesbians
Widow's Walk by Susan Stokes-Chapman - 1.5 stars, not horrific writing or such, just extremely boring that I cannot give 2 stars for it
Carol of the Bells and Chains by Laura Purcell - 2.5
Altogether, I am not sure if this was just me or others felt the same but most of these did not get the haunting feeling, the horror aspect right nor did you care for any of the characters. The best at doing all of this was Jenkin actually, then Master.

im so stubborn, i want to try to read (and finish) almost every hockey book out there. except ones i know is going to be shit from a butt. but this, im like oh it has like six books, probably bad but mildly entertaining.
jesus fuck its so bad. horrible sex scenes and it doesnt help it happens every second chapter. FMC says she shouldnt fuck these two dudes but yet she does. and fucking moves in with them. its so beyond straight in the most painful of ways. and half of the male characters, side and main, call women bunnies (in reference to puck bunny/bunnies) but the way they use it, its as if the dudes would say bitch/bitches but the author doesn't want the reader to hate the men. everyone is unbearable and i actually cannot do it anymore.
we genuinely need to start rationing off writing supplies off to these types of people. idc if you write something kinda bad, but can you at least make it entertaining. can you at least make some sort of an attempt at really anything because these people are giving off the energy that they have read two books in their life. i hate bad writers and extraordinary bad books you make life worse

this is me being curious but how people who reads more than 100 books remember everything from what they read? what happened when someone asked u to discuss about it, can u still remember anything?
for me personally who read ten-ny (probably around 30-50) books a year i wouldn't remember what i read (short term memory loss right here), but after reading i always kept a summary in a digital diary, just writing key points from a book so that when someone asked me to discuss i can remember some of it even if i read it a long time ago.

thought this could be cute and it was for a while but then...the inaccuracy of both hockey and figure skating actually is what killed any liking towards this book. to keep it as short and sweet as i can, i am not big on wanting massive amounts of accuracy for sports in books (for goodness sake i just gave heated rivalry 4 stars) but if the book consists of a Lot of the sport, i expect at least a decent amount of accuracy?? at least knowledge of How the sport(s) work, What athletes would experience, how Different two different sports can be. yet, i am convinced the author does not know how hockey works considering there is a co-ed junior team (amongst a million other things). i am convinced the author knows even less about figure skating! what the fuck do you mean a hockey player learned how to skate on figure skating boots, learned how to spin, twirl, lift and jump, especially singles, doubles and even god damned fucking TRIPLES in like 3-4 months or so?!?!??!!? what the fuck do you mean they got almost PERFECT FUCKING SCORES?!?!??! 145 IN THE FREE SKATE???? WHEN SHE HASN'T SKATED IN FS BOOTS IN LIKE A MONTH????
anyways the romance could have been cute but good lord corson, i'm sorry but you shouldn't write sports heavy romance books if you quite literally cannot do any amount of research past what the jumps are called and handwave your way around the book. as harsh as it sounds, you quite literally shouldn't have written this book. it would have been so much better if it wasn't sports heavy or no sports at all.

as title says. mc is on a mixed mens/womens team, ridicules "rich people" despite the fact she is in one of the most expensive sports to play in due to costs of equipment alone nevermind anything else and she is enrolled in a private school, she is in a shower room with another girl and freaks out saying she's never done that when that is something you would definitely experience in both mens and womens hockey.
not to be that person but bruh....

i wanted to hate read it and my god it was good for hate reading because there is nothing to like about it. but you can't look away at the trainwreck happening here. i cant even put this in my retellings tag because it is simply not one at all, what it borrows from greek mythology, Mas fucks it up, jumbles it around and makes it even worse.
the main character is around 19-20 in the book but she is physically queasy at any sort of nudity, she says "frick" and multiple times the line "free the nip (and vaginal lips)" comes up and you forget how old she is. also loveeeee (sarcasm) that every 10 chapters she went i miss my brother :(. ok we get it. the "romance" is just two guys stalking and sexually assaulting the MC, every character was genuinely unbearable and laughable.
also shoutout to chapter 34; the worst chapter, with the worst writing i have ever read in my 27 years of my life
but heres some quotes or things that will sum up this book: -achilles + patroclus founded a weapons manufacturing company aka discount lockheed martin? -in the first chapter with the mc she smells her own armpit mid convo -the constant aave and it being used incorrectly (my fav was "cunt. absolute cunt, served") -"thats why my nickname is sex" and "im war because of what i inflict in people's thoughts" (second one is based off memory but these both are from ch34) -the fact that the mc was starved, beaten, abused, homeless all in her childhood but she has no conditions that impair her
uploaded the above on goodreads but since you can do half stars here, half the time im too lazy to do all the stars here but i am 0.5 stars-ing it. jasmine mas you need to be publically shamed, put on a stage and get rotten tomatoes, lettuce, cabbage and apples thrown at you for this atrocity and for chapter 34 alone. that chapter made me want a lobotomy
