personally, in the years between my childhood and early adulthood, I had rarely touched a book. if I did, I could hardly finish it and simply didnāt feel that spark. then I got inherently obsessed with one specific fanfic, mostly because of its queer found family and year-long yearning and basically the slowest of slowburns. afterwards I started picking up Six of Crows and Aristotle and Dante discover the secrets of the Universe, and bit by bit finally got back into physical books as well.
does anyone have similar experiences? and if so, what book / piece of literature got you back into reading? š

I just had a very fun night with a Literary Pub Quiz event at a local book shop. It was my first time participating in something like this and I really enjoyed it.
I went into it worried that I wouldn't know enough about books to answer, but I surprised myself, and I was lucky to end up in a team with a couple that knew the answers I didn't š
The prize was a book per person, but we didn't win š„² ended up in second place, though, so I'm proud of that!
Have y'all ever participated in events like this before? Have you liked it? Got any funny anecdotes? Tell me all about it
And if you haven't, would you like to participate in one? š

hey PB! (peebs) i was just curious... how long do you tend to wait before starting a new book?
i was asked this recently and while i jump into the next one as soon as i've got the time, my partner said she has to sit and let it simmer first before taking in a whole new realm/plot/etc!
and for my fellow peebers that read So Many Books simultaneously, this question goes for you too!

So... I recently got approved for an audiobook on NetGally. I've never been big on audiobooks since I get distracted easily but I thought about giving it another shot as I actually got through a podcast and actually loved it (something I rarely do).
I actually love the book so far and I got the ebook, but I cant seem to focus... I dont know if its the narrator or the book or even just my environment but I really want to finish this with the audiobook as I got it from NetGally... does anyone have any tips? Any advice? Anything at all?
Thanks

I listen audiobooks on Libby, and often I see a book either on the Libby app, the store, or now PB that I find interesting and want to read. I read the description and put it in my TBR folder. When I go to choose my next book, if I donāt have an agenda, I will just choose a random book off of my TBR list. Though, I donāt ever read the description again. I donāt know of anyone else that does this (no matter the format), but it keeps me on my toes trying to figure out what the book is even about haha. Itās like the first twist for me š¤Ŗ
Iām curious to know if anyone else has any quirks or can relate? If not, how do you choose your next read?

When you read, do you like to make theories and predictions as to what will happen OR read blindly, learning with the main character as the story unfolds?
I had a major thriller/mystery phase a few years ago and initially I went in completely blind with no theories, just vibing with the story. But eventually I began noticing similar patterns and trends in all the books that had me guessing the ending earlier than I intended, which sucked because reading blindly is just so much more fun for me!! I feel like if I correctly guess what will happen, Iāve just spoiled it for myself lol
