We are on Pagebound so I know we all love reading. What are your other passions/hobbies besides reading.
I have two big ones.
I love buying and watching movies. In particular Criterion Editions or small boutique companies like Shout Factory or Arrow. I am particularly fond of older movies especially if the discs have lots of special features for me to watch. This weekend I watched Alfred Hitchcock’s The Lady Vanishes and Billy Wilder’s Double Indemnity.
Board Games is my other. My wife and I play a lot of board games. Lately we have been playing Elder Scrolls.

I've only recently learned the term as I get back into reading again and the concept was so funny to me.
For those that don't know, hate reading something is, to my understanding, continuing to read a book despite hating every second of it.
So far I've only experienced this one time and the reason I didn't fully DNF it (as I plan to return to the book here in the next few days for a personal project) was because I was oddly entertained at how much I hated a book that has a 4 star average rating on goodreads and here, while everyone else seems to love the characters and story.
I'm curious if others have had a book turn into a hate read, or what others' opinions are on hate reading. I don't think I would do it by choice outside of my personal project, but there has been an odd sense of entertain value in reading something that I had a supremely polarizing opposite opinion of to so many other people.

I love being surprised by a good book behind a bad cover.
One of mine is: The Yearning by Alana Khan-Seriously go look! The cover is just awful but great story.
What's one of your favorite books with a terrible cover?

Read this a while back. Suddenly reminded of it by wiki, of all places lol. I didn't know that this was Haruf's last work and published posthumously. It's also partly inspired by his own life. Knowing the background makes it even more beautiful.
also the Brits are way too silly with the title
austinzzz started reading...

The Castle
Franz Kafka

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, we had everything before us, we had nothing before us, we were all going direct to Heaven, we were all going direct the other way – in short, the period was so far like the present period, that some of its noisiest authorities insisted on its being received, for good or for evil, in the superlative degree of comparison only.
One of the coolest openings

I get a little sad and envious when I see that people can read like 120+ books a year, and I can manage 12 if I try reaaaaaally hard.
I can't get any of the seasonal badges because reading that many books in that amount of time is impossible for me.
Any tips to not be so sad about it? I'm not looking for tips to read faster, honestly I've tried everything under the sun and I'm pretty much as fast as I'm ever going to get.
I'd definitely like to follow more people who self-identify as a slow reader, so I don't feel so alone 🥺 I'm definitely the slowest reader I know and it gets lonely down here 😭

It doesnt even have to be your favorite character, just one you find their names cool and unique. Mine might be Finnick Odair?
