"Every book is blood, it's pus, it's excrement, it's heart torn to shreds, it's nerves cut to pieces, it's electric shock, it's coagulated blood running like boiling lava down the mountain."
"I don't write because I want to, no. I write because I must. Otherwise what would I do with myself."
Every artist absolutely needs to read Clarice Lispector. Her work speaks so much about the interiors of an artist's mind. So much of art is a compulsion. What a groundbreaking book. Angela's increasing existentialism as she revolts against her author to the point of being freer than him is fascinating to read. Lispector is one of the most brilliant minds I've had the pleasure of reading.
