50 Christmas romances that are actually good
No, I haven't read all 50 books, but after reading dozens of popular but disappointing Christmas romances, I did my research. I'm sharing them here! They're well-rated on most sites, even if some donāt have their ratings on PB yet. I hope you make some new discoveries! š There's something for everyone. š

Ok so I understand we cound the audiobooks as part of the reading challenges. What about reading once and then listening to the book- do we count it as a second āreadā? I wonder if i should make a Shelf for audiobooks as it dont perceieve both mediums as the same: When i LISTEN to the audiobook, i can do 101 other things and just engage one of my senses. While Reading a physical book or ebook, engages eyes and touch, and you really cant do much when both hands and eyes are occupied
Thus i cannot comprehend how both are concidered reading- and please dont satart witchunting me saying But the Braille is reading with your hands- thats different.
Also, if we create a shelf lets say Audiobooks- upon finishing, would they count towards the yearly challenge?

Well⦠this book was a bit meh. A mix of Alice in wonderland and⦠any idea a child who loves fantasy might have? Okay, I understand the series could have potential, but ouff, the writing wasn't really my cup of tea.

It was cute! Lots and lots of smut, but I loved the different challenges each character faced, and the frustration throughout the story felt real. Believe it or not, it was my first hockey romance, and I enjoyed it!

Am I missing something? I thought I'd stumbled upon a mystery or thriller, but I must have done my research wrong, because nothing gives me chills. I find it interesting, but I don't see any more connection than "three siblings who were separated in childhood and we follow part of their lives." I would have thought the house would be more prominently featured⦠well

Nail-picking is one of my biggest pet peeves and this girl is CONSTANTLY "picking at the skin down the side of [her] nails" and I cannot stand if that doesn't mean anything because every time I read her doing that I FREAK. She's done it a lot. It better be some sort of important thing later I swear

Disclaimer: I am not sure how this would work on an audiobook.
This is a book packed with information, unfamiliar terminology, family lines, mythology, characters, etc which might render it a bit overwhelming at first, so here's something I found (way too late in my reading lol)
Towards the end of the book there is a whole section which depicts important Family Trees, as well as a Glossary which explains: š Time & Age š¬Terms (such as magical artifacts, adjectives, places, etc) š Creatures & Beings (they are a lot!) šCharacters (to keep up with all the names thrown at us, lol) š£ Pronunciation Guide (but who am I kidding, I still pronounce everything the way I want or not pronounce it at all)
That's all! I'm still on chapter 47 and cannot put it down.
p.s Maybe this tip is common knowledge and y'all already know about this, just wanted to share just in case someone didn't bother to look!

Ngl this app has done wonders to improve my reading. The quests and lists are so exciting to plot through even if Iāll never finish them all. And the point system is such a good incentive for someone whose brain likes rewards (mine) no matter how small they are. It got me off most of my social media to read and Iām on track to read 10 more than I did last year šš”š„¹. It stands out from the other book apps sensationally and I like using it amidst the others, but Pagebound is already my favourite.

first off all I want to say, that the aesthetics of this app are 100% me, and as someone who made their own gameified reading tracker in notion, I love the direction this app is taking + I think it has amazing potential. but, sadly, it loses me in the actual execution of its UI & features. here's some constructive feedback to the devs š
UI:
Homepage is too focused on your social feed and not enough focused on your reading. I know that this is a social reading tracker, but it is still a book tracker. We have the ability to make TBRs, plan our reading, and our yearly goals, join quests (all amazing features) but the information is hidden behind menus, and not visible anywhere else on the app. This makes the features, at least imo, fall short in execution. The homepage should give me an overview of my activity, as well as my social feed, and not only the book I'm currently reading. Suggestion: Show yearly goal, let us select if we want to see our yearly or monthly planned books, and how much of these we've read (and cherry on top would be how many pages/ day I would need to read in order to achieve my goal of reading my planned books). Optionally you could let the user choose what information is being displayed on their Homepage, so everyone gets a tailored experience to their needs.
Quests: one of the features that made me download the app, sadly the one I'm most dissapointed with. a) as a free user I can't make my own quests. sucks, but ok. b) no filter function! this makes it basically unusable, sorry. This is such a basic functionality - I should be able to filter quests by: a specific book/ genre/ books on my TBR/ books on my interested shelf. c) the algo doesn't show me relevant quests either, so I'm left with doomscrolling until I find something that could potentially sound like something I'd be happy to engage with
Library: planning function is cool, but I wish the UI was better here. Instead of going to plan > to month > and see your monthly plans I would suggest 2 buttons on top (+ monthly plan; + yearly plan), and then underneath show a visual of your planned books (similarly of how the homepage shows all your current reads)
Discover: similar users are NOT shown by order of % similarity. how can it be that my first suggested person has 6% compatibility, and I need to scroll 10 users down to see someone whos reading tastes are 30% similar. please, I beg, make a sort function.
Misc. Features:
anyway, that was all, I wish the devs all the best, and am interested to see how this app will improve in the future āØ
