I would have liked it better if we never found out who sent the letters.
There were some twists and reveals that were very unexpected.
The biggest thing that got to me about this book was that the main character noticed the difference in her friend from when she first met him. 3 times. Within the span of 3 chapters that felt like it was one after another. We get it. He looks different. The 2nd time it was mentioned was whatever. But the 3rd time that came up, so close to the other 2 times, made me wonder if the author forgot she put that in the book already... twice.
Other than that though, it was a pretty good book.

It was a pretty good story and fast read. But I thought it was going to be very different based on the title and synopsis. Mostly just cause of the title, though.
The only characters I hated were Diane's parents. And Megan. I liked everyone else.
I'm kind of sad with the way the story ended, but I understand why it did.
There were definitely parts of the story that made me cry. Especially at the beginning.
It was a pretty good book. But the title doesn't really fit the story itself.

It's definitely the best of the series.
It really picked up in this book. And there was so much in here that wasn't in the movies. The last few chapters were great. I can't believe all that was left out!
Sam was definitely the real hero of the story. Even after they got back to the Shire, it was Merry, Pippin, and Sam who did what was needed. Frodo pretty much did nothing except carry the ring.
Frodo would have died or given in long before reaching Mount Doom if it hadn't been for Sam.
However, Frodo was still needed. There needed to be one to carry the burden, whether that was Frodo or someone else, and one to help them get to where they needed to go. No matter who carried the ring, they would've been so affected by it that they wouldn't have made it there alone.
So even though Frodo only carried the ring and didn't do any kind of fighting, he was still important to the story.
I'm glad to have finally read the books, but I will never do a reread of this series.

I started this book because I have seen the movie a few times. And I know when books are turned into movies, there are always a few changes. But omg, the movie is basically its own thing. There are so few things that are taken from the book that it's almost not even the same. And after finishing chapter 14, I realized how very, very different the movie is from the book. I mean both are good. But it's like they chose to only use two or 3 details from the book and scrapped the rest. At this point, I'm really hoping a few more details show up that were used in the movie!
