    I wanted to love it…

I know I was supposed to find this profound but I found it a little too familiar

I finished part 1 in Combray. Nothing has happened, just lots of flowers, paths, steeples and a few mother’s kisses. But it’s ripping me absolutely apart. I’m yearning, longing, feeling so deeply. Excited to continue.

I’m reading Proust for the first time after many years of building up the courage. I’m taking French lessons so it seemed like the right time to start. After reading (and not really enjoying) the long prose of infinite jest and Anna Karenina I’m nervous…. I read the first 10 pages and surprisingly liked them. All my hobbies seem to be for discipline and not pleasure but I’m hoping to really “find myself” in à la recherche du temps perdu
