3.75 ⭐ Surprisingly not trash. Don't get me wrong, everytime I head towards a reading slump, McFadden leads me out of it. Does that mean the quality of the books are super amazing? No
But this one didn't feel like a stretch. Ofc some thing did but all in all it was a good popcorn thriller to keep you hooked. I didn't roll my eyes quite so often.
I also liked seeing Millie's character more. Ig I didn't read the 2nd book immediately after the first, therefore I do not notice any copy paste or monotone as such. Sometimes it dragged, sometimes it didn't, good twists. Liked it.

4⭐
I can definitely see the appeal this book contains, especially for the time when it was written. Did I guess who the culprit was? Yes.
Yet, this book contained so many other different plot twists that made it interesting to read. It's a classic whodunnit and a palate cleanser. The writing is simple, the characters have personalities, and it was a good read.
I would like to mention how I had difficulty comprehending the enormous amount of information at the end, and sometimes felt that this book dragged, yet as I reflect upon it, I realise that I quite liked it.

3.75 ⭐ This was so wonderfully written. Elif Shafak's writing is a bit difficult to get into at first but when you do, you feel significantly immersed. Brilliant storytelling. I was bored at first but it got better. This is a book you need to sit with, read slowly and savour.
