This is a tough one to review. I was immediately connected to the ragtag, rough around the edges characters and the unbelievable quest they found themselves on. The plot was a little slow as we learned and developed all of the characters, which I don’t mind if it’s not repetitive or necessary for the plot. But it did get a bit repetitive and there wasn’t enough plot to warrant all of it. I still enjoyed it though. It just took me much longer to finish than I expected.

This one was a bit predictable but still enjoyable. I love that Fia is finding herself and her inner strength. I loved Osta. I’m interested to see how things play out in book 2 after that revelation that confirmed my suspicions!

At the surface level, this is a beautiful story about a female finding her purpose. On a deeper level, it’s a story about the expectations others have for you and you have for yourself, a story of life after loss, found family, found courage and confidence, and love.
I love a novel written in verse. I highlighted so many things. It’s a timely read right now.
“It seemed to me that anything unpredictable was named dangerous by Gods and men alike. But the word unpredictable seemed reserved for women alone. A woman they cannot control, whether Goddess or mortal, is a dangerous woman.”

Finally. Don’t get me wrong, I loved this. I loved the whole Ruthless Boys series. This one was just LONG. All of it necessary but just a lot. The ending… love seeing the ending. I could’ve lived in the last 10% of the book. I’m ready to see how Gabriel plays out in Zodiac Academy and his visions of the twin flames.

I loved Aurienne’s humor and quick wit. The banter was good. It took me a minute to understand the magic system, but it does become clear. This is 3 stars for me because I didn’t get enough of the conflict. We get a big revelation at the end, but I think we needed more of that conflict to feel like a complete book. I know this is going to be a duology, but I’m wondering if it should’ve been one book? But maybe book 2 will have enough conflict that it truly needed to be 2 books. We shall see.

I actually liked this better than the first one. Team Blake. Idc idc idc. Callum is clingy and manipulative while hiding behind his love for her. At least Blake never claims to be anything other than what he is.

I didn’t read anything about this prior to reading it. I saw it was one of the popular 2024 reads, so I wanted to check it out. I really enjoyed it. It took a bit for me to get into it, especially with the dark start, but then I grew connected to Phoebe. I WAS Juice at her age, and I felt everything she felt when my dad was remarrying. While I didn’t love Lyla, I also understood her. This felt like a Fredrik Backman lite novel in terms of character development.

I thought this was ok. I loved the premise, but I struggled to get into it because so much of the magic and lore was not explained, so it was confusing. And even as the book is ending, I still have a lot of questions. It leaves with loose ends for a book two, but I don’t think I’ll be reading it. I didn’t feel particularly connected to any of the characters either. They all felt very archetypal.
