Not cozy fiction but a page-turner! Expected cozy fiction but got dark and gritty side of Tokyo with evil supernatural cat (bakeneko) leanings. Disturbing but a wide slice of weird Tokyo with what I would say some coziness if you have ever been to Tokyo yourself. Some memorable passages like: “Outside the buildings snake and swarm around us. The sun is high, and the midday heat is roasting the asphalt. Shimmering heat waves hang in mid-air. I put on the air conditioner. The glass high risers of the electrical district reflect the sky's deep blue, smatterings of white fluffy clouds transposed on the windows of grey concrete boxes. If I had my pen, I'd write this stuff down.”

When I was younger, I could easily read several books at a time and just switch back and forth whenever I wanted to. Now I tend to just focus on one book at a time. Reading one book at a time is much more manageable for me due to a hectic work and life schedule. If you read multiple at a time, how do you manage that? How do you decide when and why to switch from one book to another? Do you read books from the same genre or are your books totally different?

Towards the last 20% I feel this really picked up. And wow — what an ending! Beautiful book.

Nice stories with the food detectives, a father and daughter team, finding and recreating the specific meals the visitors want to experience one more time. The book made me hungry! Definitely cozy. Curious if the role of the cat expands in the second book!

Interesting and really well writtenslice of life but definitely not cozy so far. A bit dark but I do enjoy it… but maybe not before bedtime? Need a friendly brain cleanse!

The dedication feels like this book was made for me so I'm excited to start reading, however I've never really read anything like this before so I'm a bit scared too. It seems like a good book though, so I have high hopes.

Can we get a cozy fiction / healing fiction quest? Would be a great way to find other books in the genre as well! Anyone else interested in that?

Enjoying this dream of cat companionship. It doesn’t need to be read in one sitting. Small snacks of reading do wonders on this cute and psychedelic cat meditation.
