hello fellow book 🐌
I participated and finished the spring readalong, but ended up being miserable about it. I checked out my book of choice a month early knowing how slow I am. Idk if it's because of the PB readalong or if the book I chose suddenly got popular for a different reason, but a waitlist formed behind me almost immediately. Knowing the hold line was so long that I wouldn't be able to renew in time to get the badge, I rushed through my book, pushing myself to my limit to finish the day the book was due. It made the book a little less fun and kinda turned me off the readalongs.
Now for the cherry blossom one, i actually am waiting in a hold line, not sure if I'll get the book in time, especially given how long it takes me to get through a book (i usually have to renew a book 2 or 3x to finish). I've basically given up on the badge and will just read it for myself.
but I thought maybe some other 🐌 do these readalongs and have some tips! So if you do participate in the seasonal readalongs/any readalongs with a time limit, how do you manage your time and balance your slow pace with library due dates and reading pressure? Or do you skip these events altogether? do you ever get sad that you miss out on badges?
