What a delight this was to read from start to finish. The tone is very different from the previous two in the series (with much more action and adventure) but it maintains the same amount of heart. Baldree also proves for the third time, his expertise in writing endearingly lovable characters who don’t really speak much at all! The overall arc of Fern as a middle aged bookseller questioning all her life choices is satisfying to see develop and I love the portrayal of friendships in this. There are also some new characters that add a lot of fun banter and new enemies who heighten the stakes. I loved it and it is my favorite in the series so far.
