  • Tiny Bookshop

Is anyone playing tiny bookshop and if so what was a title of a book you never heard of but found it interesting in this game. For me it was a book called Valperga by Mary Shelley which now I want to read.

Indie books I’ve read that I recommend! What are yours?

πŸ‘» Down Home by Steve L. Clark VERY spooky reads. If you want something horror, and very short, it’s good stuff. πŸ˜†

⚑️ Birth of the Storm by Valerie Storm A GEM. I cried a lot. Very good writing. And you can feel for the FMC. If you like hybrid people, this can be your thing. πŸ₯Ή

πŸ‘ΌπŸ» If You Really Knew Me: A Memoir About Miscarriage and Motherhood by Mary Purdie As someone who has experienced miscarriages, this made me feel seen. Very first book I’ve annotated

As you can see, I love reading a bit of everything ahah.

  • Books as Self-Care/Soothing

I know these modern times we live in are sooo chaotic and stressful. It can be easy to become nihilistic. But I’m so glad to have access to books (many of them) to dream into. Creating these visual worlds in my mind help facilitate empathy and creativity, both which are sorely needed for a compassionate society.

    Rant of the day. πŸ˜…

  • Discord Book Club Advice

    Hey,

I am hoping to make a discord club for multi passionate people as a place to discuss numerous different topics including books, hobbies, etc. I figured, since discord has channel options when you create a server, it would be a good place to host it.

To anyone who has made a discord book club, I have a few questions for you.

    How are you enjoying it?

How do you handle age verification? I've heard of a data leak that makes me distrustful of the feature and data privacy but I also want the platform to be 18+.

How do you balance privacy and community?

  • Bookish Discord Servers?

Hi, I was wondering if anyone had any bookish discord servers they are a part of? I tend to find that readers have overlapping hobbies. Some people like gaming, some people like crafting, etc and I like bookish spaces that encompass a little bit of all of that. I’m in the Dark Academia community discord server and they discuss philosophies. I am part of a book club called The Introverted Book Coven and they share a lot of community based events like game nights. I run an epic fantasy reader discord server called RealmWalkers’ Social Club for people that wanted basically a community that liked β€œold white guy fantasy (LOTR, ASOIAF, etc) without the incel behavior”.

Anyways, does anyone else enjoy discord servers that are bookish or bookish adjacent?
