this book reminds me of 'eleanor oliphant is completely fine'. the way it was written in a light, funny tone but has dark themes to it. it's something that feels weird and uncomfortable to read. i like it, tho this would definitely be a huge trigger for certain people.

this started out great, interesting. i love the concept, the switching timelines. it just fell down halfway, and then ultimately plummeted after knowing the true identity of IH. predictable ending. repetitive scenes, going in circles. so much buildup and intrigue, only to go for a very disappointing conclusion.
the lines and exchanges of the characters don't have great weight for me. most of the time, they just feel like casually chatting. i just didn't feel enough fear, anger, desperation from the characters. like "oh, a killer might be hunting me? might as well get some wine and steak at the nearest grocery or maybe grab some coffee at this cafe just for nostalgia of a woman getting stabbed multiple times" the characters' actions are not really reflecting the kind of situation that they are in, so it feels off to me on how either unrealistic or how stupid the characters are.
