I am kicking myself for not buying this book the half-dozen times I picked it up at my local bookshop. I just finished the audiobook and thoroughly enjoyed it. The sci-fi aspect did not stop this work from being easily applicable to our human existence. This was a great listen and one that will go on the shelf to return to in the future.

All the cozy warm vibes with plenty of intrigue and just the right amount of skirmish. Simply adored the new charactersš No notes!

I am seriously torn about this book. I had a hard time getting into it, and even at 50% wasn't very enthralled - probably could've DNF'd at that point, if I was that sort of soul. The beginning just felt so slow, and while I think that was the point the author was going for (building up and saving the shock and awe moments for the last 20%) it made the first 400 pages feel a bit tedious at times. I do think that the book being categorized as dark fantasy misled me a bit, and that majorly contributed to my feelings. While there are fantasy elements, it reads more like Mafia romance or sort of thriller-ish. Idk how to explain it all in a review but, the execution of the story just felt off to me in many facets.

This was a fun, smutty read. I had been looking forward to getting more on Kira's story. I am enjoying the arc of this series with shorter stories that build on each other and advance the whole world as well.
