Why do publishers insist on releasing the hardback version of a book first? i started thinking about this a while ago but was reminded of it with the SJM updates. i would assume that most people who own the ACOTAR books probably own the the paperback version. I haven’t read the series yet but I did purchase the paperback box set (cause i found a crazy cheap deal lol) so for the new books released in the series why would i go out and buy them in hardback … like that literally makes no sense. it’s especially weird to me because new release romance books always come out in paperback and very rarely can you even find a romance hardback… i wouldn’t mind it as much if they released both the hardback and the paperback at the same time or relatively close to each other but most times you have to wait a year for the paperback. like… that’s insane. Do yall feel a similar way? or is this just something that irritates me?

i hate this book.
i’m coming back to this review after sitting with it for a couple of days bc i wanted to explain why i hated it. it’s not bc of the angst or the cheating or anything like that. it’s because these characters are the most boring people i’ve ever read about … there isn’t actually any real barrier that stops them from being in a relationship besides their own idiocy. i never felt a connection to either of the characters and by the end i had to just skip through jamie’s pov cause honestly who gives a fuck what he has to say/what he was feeling it’s the same thing regurgitated with a couple extra sentences of internal monologue. i’m being so serious when i say that by the end of this book i didn’t care if these people got hit by a damn train.
also the writing. corny. the original epilogue should’ve been classified as criminal … “i’m so happy that she is me” (im paraphrasing but it’s something like that in relation to being jamie’s wife) like i just can’t. looking back i should’ve dnfed this and my 2 star rating is actually generous.
