I really enjoyed this! Manning is a talented writer and storyteller. I liked the weaving of her personal life with larger themes.

Very heavy, but important. I’ve seen others say that it feels more geared towards an older generation who has less understanding of the internet. I agree, but nevertheless, I think Bates does a good job tying things together. I still learned a lot.

Seriously some of the most beautiful writing I’ve ever encountered. Coates is one of the brilliant thinkers and writers of our time. We are lucky to be living at the same time of him. Required reading!!!! I listed to the audiobook, but would read again just to savor the delicious writing and take my time with it.

I wanted to love this, but I still feel embarrassed reading more vanilla romance type books, even with the political bent of this one. The characters didn’t feel very fleshed out to me. I wasn’t rooting for anyone.

Read this as a follow up to “Men Who Hate Women” but it doesn’t go as hard, sadly. I respect the author’s work, but she isn’t a very compelling writer imo.

Really incredible book about young radicals who move to a hotel in Moscow in the glory days of the USSR. This book has everything - a queer love story, espionage and intrigue, fascinating characters. I loved the writing and highly recommend the audiobook version!

Ronan Farrow I love you!!!!! I implore you to read the audiobook version. Ronan chooses to do voices and accents for many characters. He is so committed. Beyond that, a very important story of power, surveillance, corporate greed, and misogyny. It reads almost more like a true crime podcast than a book in a positive way. It’s extremely propulsive.

I enjoyed this book comprised of profiles of various divas in popular culture. What makes a diva? What sets them apart? Why do we love them? I enjoyed the small glimpses into their lives and the writer is extremely competent.

Really great short work about the intersections of feminism and anti capitalism 🫡 one for the comrades 🩵
