Plot is predictable, the storytelling in general is lacking substance besides the obvious problems:

• christian fanfic
• blatant racist characters
• "hidden", not well done either, conservative agenda
• problematic plottwist -> transphobic
• a lot of alt-right undertones
• no character development
• one plot-hole after the other
• the author probably never met a leftist and believes everything they read on facebook

This book is a good start if you have no prior knowledge of the fashion industry, its problems and our part in it as a consumer. There is a lot of information about various hot topics focusing on different steps off the supply chain and consumer behavior. From time to time, it was a bit condescending, yet at some parts this was needed. Hence, it can be hard to keep it in balance. There was a lot of personal storytelling, which was often overdone. However, if you struggle with paying attention while reading nonfiction, this might help you stay focused. As my knowledge of fast fashion & consumerism is already deeper, I was often frustrated with the personal stories. Quoting Wikipedia more than once took away the seriousness of the topics being mentioned. The book lacked a more in depth critique on the role of capitalism as it spoke more often about change within the system and not system change. However, I went on Aja Barber's Instagram account after reading the book (didn't know who she was before) and she is pushing a lot of important topics on there, so it seems, from my short research, even for her, this book was just an opening for the larger topic.
