This book waffles between a hallmark movie and I think somehow art?? I am struggling to put into words the experience of reading this book, It’s unlike anything I’ve ever read. The characters are so exaggerated, I feel like they’re a Commedia dell'arte performance. The plot is ABSURD and the pacing is bizarre.
By the back cover, there’s a perfectly normal romance novel set in Colorado but inside is anything but that. If you are looking for realism or depth this is not what you are going to get. It’s sort of camp?? It’s funny in a 90’s movie way, everything is so over the top and in your face and I think that was intended but how wild to get this when I was expecting a standard historical romance. I kept trying to talk about this while reading it but it was so impossible, especially Nellie. I think anyone looking for something to grab them, then this is it cause it’s so weird that it’s wonderful.
Big triggers for binge eating tho, found it difficult to read sometimes.

Whether you love to hate or hate to love 'em, these literary bad girls are anything but well-behaved. *Disclaimer: we do not literally support the illegal and oft cruel behavior of these protagonists (usually); we support the authors bold enough to write them (always).
