loved the tv series so much and have been meaning to read the book for ages, i am enjoying it but i read before bed and there are many, many words (similar to hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy) so it is not the easiest to digest lmao

i won't lie i found this quite boring, i fear i am not intellectual enough to appreciate it. the general feeling of apathy throughout the book is something i did resonate with as someone who has experienced it frequently due to mental illness throughout my life but i didn't connect to any of the book beyond an understanding of what that feels like - maybe when my mental health was worse i would've got more out of it but idk.

i wasn't sure whether i would get into this book as i knew nothing about the author, and thought it might be a bit outlandish for me - on first look i thought it was a book of the script of a musical lmao. it took a couple of chapters but i did indeed become very invested in the story and am really glad i read it. it did feel slow and overexplained in parts but it is a unique way of sharing the stories of important historical figures that i haven't experienced before, and i would love to read more books in this style.
