    Dark academia where ?

Not once in this Roman inspired fantasy did I feel even a tinge of dark academia hahah. In my head I imagined a sunny, Roman-like setting. Just think that James Islington pushing this out to be dark academia is misleading.

I gave the book a 5⭐rating overall as this was my favourite pre-teen book, so I keep it close to my heart. Yes, I may be bias hahah. During my first read I cried like a babbyyy at the end💔 however, during my second read, (fast forward to my adulthood) I didn't cry. I appreciated how cosy and nostalgic the book felt to me instead. It's a truly moving story about love, grief and friendship. As well as that, we have characters with disabilities and in a kids book, it is important to bring awareness to these elements. I would recommend this book to both adults and younger children🦊❤️ still one of my favs to this day

The Nightmare swore under his breath. “Trees how I hate him.” “He’s thoughtful.” Guilt stung me, wasplike. “And I’ve been awful to him.” “I see no problem with that.”

I can’t help but like Nightmare, against my better judgement. They’re such a curmudgeon 😂
