First of all, let me just say that this book was not for me and I knew that going in, so I will not rail against it too much. Suffice it to say that despite my general toleration for boring books (I love an exercise in patience), this was perhaps the only book to ever bore me to tears. I can see the appeal for others, but to me this read like a bunch of insufferable people running around being horrible to each other without a deep dive into their psyches that would have made me eat it up. I would like to thank my lucky stars that I was not born during this time period because I would have gone outside in the rain every day just so I could catch a fever and escape this intolerable mortal plane.
