a video by @katiewuwrites popped up on my instagram outlining how “yearning” in many books falls flat because of the following:

1. characters who are clearly in love but are just in denial (denial ≠ yearning), and if the couple had one convo abt their feelings the plot would be resolved
2. yearning is one-sided rather than both yearning for each other
3. when they’re clearly right for each other (no internal/external conflicts)
4. payoffs that don’t feel satisfying

PLEASSE drop some recs for books that do yearning RIGHT! that don’t do anything listed above and will have me clawing at the walllllls
