This is my favorite book from now on. It's so good I wish I could rate it higher than perfect 5. I wish I could just read it again for the first time and experience all of the adventure and all the emotions again. I wish I cried while reading but I was too excited to know how it ends to let my tears get in the way of my reading. I wish this book didn't end so soon. If this had a sequel I would have started it right away. As a chemist, there's only so much science stuff that I can comprehend and I enjoyed every but of it, even the ones that are outside my understanding. It was all so interesting that it made me fall in love with science even more. I strive to be as good a scientist as Dr. Grace is. He's very intuitive and his passion for science is just oozing out of his very being. It's just contagious in the best way. Aside from the fun sci-fi stuff, this book also has its fair share of emotional bits. It speaks to you in the most human way, and it reveals the importance of humanity, the urge to want the best for our homeworld, for our species, no matter what it takes. Even if it means going on a suicide mission. If you look at it in a different way, Dr. Grace's situation was kind of melancholy. But maybe that's just me. Being alone in soace knowing you'd die anyway can be depressing. But his friendship with Rocky saved it and it was the best thing. I'm gonna miss them and I wish I could read more about them. No doubt I'll be thinking about this book for a while and probably won't shut up about it to my closest friends. I highly recommend this and if you're having second-thoughts on picking this up, take my word for it when I say that this is worth every second of your time. This won't disappoint especially if you're a person in STEM, I guarantee you'll enjoy it as much as I did, if not more. Andy Weir, this review is my pledge of allegiance to your fanbase.
