“It’s a friendly hug, with our arms alternatingly linked, our ears pressed together, and for a moment he’s stiff. His words come back to me. They’re my only family. I wonder when was the last time he was hugged.” […] “When we come apart from the hug, his cheeks are slightly pink and he looks a little different to me than he did pre-hug. He’s not quite the scowly asshole I’m used to. Now he’s a scowly asshole who I’ve recently learned could really use a hug from time to time.”
This moment was so cute but this book is going to destroy me I can feel it

Enter Tropesick—a love story that is self aware and delivers on all the magic us romance readers crave. Katie and Tyler allow us to explore an emotional story rife with addiction, grief, and heartbreak. The story explores two timelines—one to see their past mistakes and what tore them apart when they were teenagers, and a current one that shows their journey of ghostwriting a novel. What I loved most about this story was its message—that love is influenced by the people who support you and the tiny bit of magic that brings two people together (or in their case back together). I really enjoyed Tyler as a mc and I think it’s important to include characters who are not perfect. We get to see Tyler’s internal struggle with deserving a great love, deserving happiness, and I think it gives the reader hope to see him seize this second chance. I really enjoyed the 91% plot twist—iykyk!
