this was so much fun!!!
I picked this up from the bookstore because it intrigued me, and it surely delivered on it! The world was fun, we had ghosts and monsters and a perfectly captured dark fantasy atmosphere. Loved the characters and their dynamics, and the funny moments we got throughout this book to lighten up serious tones. It wasn’t a huge plot twist or anything mind-blowing (the mystery plot twist in that case) but I was still hooked and had so much fun reading this! A good story wrapped up for a standalone, and I loved how each character’s story concluded. It felt a little like a full circle moment (if you have read this, you’ll likely know what I mean🤭)

This was such a good opening to the series!! I had so much fun reading and annotating this, and I also really enjoy the characters. The world building and magic was great, as well as the plot ;)
Tessa was such a soft yet amazing main character, I loved being in her head and connected to her so much throughout the story. Had I not been spoiled with who she would end up with, I genuinely wouldn't have known from the first book, since both love interests are great.
Obviously I still have some questions (which will probably be answered later on) but I was expecting a tiny bit more for the ending, which is why this isn't a five star, but it was still great and I'm sure as I continue on in this series, it will get even better!
