Am I dumb? So much is happening, there are so many tidbits mentioned that I feel like have meaning, every scene is nuanced and deliberate, and yet I cannot make sense of any of it. What does the Mongolian Mark symbolize? Why the sexualization of plants?? What is it with flying things like birds and airplanes, and what about painted flowers? Why is she so passive? What is wrong with these men? I keep reading to see if the answers will come to me but nothing has clicked yet. Am I just not smart enough to interpret it all?

  • Judging a book by its cover…

I am wondering how people go about choosing books. Do you pick something up based on an intriguing cover, or do you follow authors or genres? I’m sure this has been discussed before, but personally when I get the chance to wander in the library or the bookshop I am judging books by their cover, and find myself drawn to modern, minimalist covers with intriguing titles. I’d love to hear your thoughts!

Honestly I didn’t understand this book until I finished it and read some reviews of it. The underlying themes seem complex and apparently went straight over my head.

oh god, that poor dog. if you're a big animal lover especially dogs, there's a huge trigger in the next part after the family gathering. that's horrendous omg

Good overall but I found it slightly cliche in parts and there was not much depth to some characters
