First chapter thoughts: The narrator is undeniably unlikable. And Moshfegh writing is so real. I seriously feel as if this is my friend. When the narrator explains her dynamic with her parents, I get the same feeling as when my friends in real life confide in me about their imperfect and complex relationships within their families. I feel bad for the narrator but I don’t at the same time.
