Iâm finding the lack of narrative connection between chapters slightly disconcerting but I like that it forces you to engage with the narrative more closely. I find I have to read more comprehensively early in chapters to make sure that I understand what the scene/scenario is. Also makes it feel like youâre learning about someoneâs real life with bits cut out that they didnât include.

Iâm loving the portrayal of a working class character feeling uncomfortable in a middle class setting. Daveâs discomfort and incessant desire to please his hosts is pretty accurate and makes his character feel real (as a Brit who relates to this situation!).

I canât decide how much I dislike the protagonist. I understand sheâs quite seriously mentally ill, but sheâs also being a massive bitch to the one person who cares about her, and not in a very understandable way.
