minus one star for the awkward rivalry between holly and lucy. i understand teenage girls do act like that sometimes but eh.
spookiest depictions of ghosts so far... i think i won't be able to stop thinking about all the ones from their major cases. something about the case of the bloody footprints gnaws at me...

"I am not dead. I am only asleep."
Giles Corey, the equally haunting companion book to Dan Barrett's album of the same name... Written after a suicide attempt, Giles Corey is a book about depression, a cult, death, and the dead.
I do not consider Giles Corey as "depressing" as most people say it is, though. Instead, I found comfort and understanding from the stories featured in the book, most of which mirrored my own personal experiences which shaped me. When you spend too much of your life mythologizing certain topics, you'll probably end up feeling like a phantom yourself. I find myself still thinking about Giles Corey-- himself and his execution, the life of Robert Voor, and the myth of the Indian that shot down the stars. I often think about how it would feel like to go through such extreme lengths as they did.
Dan Barrett is a wonderful, talented artist and I would love to explore the rest of his projects. What an inspiration.
