Maybe thats an insane question to ask after 1,5 books but...is the strzyga transformation to their owl form...complete?😭 like are they a "normal" owl at the end??? Because for some reason i keep imagining them like half changed, sort of like a human in an owl costume😭😭😭 idk maybe something in their fight in the first book (where elza showed up) made me feel like Niko wasn't a full owl there??? Anyone know what they look like? Did my head just make up the creepy image of an owl in human shape on its own?💀💀 please help

Still not sure what I think of the sniffing lmao but goooods I love reading about Dymitr and Niko again.
Also I didn't realize Baba Jagas quest would be THAT insane, curious to see whether any killing will actually occur💀
And Veronica Roth has a thing with pain doesn't she? With how Dymitr endures physical pain I keep having to think back to Cyra in Carve the Mark (also the whole central role of pain in both these series). But god does she write suffering well.

Does anyone have any recs for Slavic folklore books? Specifically Slavic fantasy that has accurate and respectful depictions of Slavic folklore? (The author does not necessarily have to be Slavic) Can be nonfiction books as well, I'm always open to learning more about the stories from a historical or cultural perspective.
My mother's family hails from Slovakia and Ukraine and I have been wanting to connect with that part of my heritage for most of my life. I've studied and read some Slavic folklore stories but I would love to read more stories with this kind of folklore as the backdrop.
Baba Yaga is a character in particular who I love to see interpreted through the eyes of different people. She brings me a certain type of comfort I can't really express. But I'm open to books involving any Slavic characters, creatures, etc
I have/have read the following so far:
Finding Baba Yaga by Jane Yolen The Bear Nightingale by Katherine Arden Thistlefoot by GennaRose Nethercott
