A not so simple question for you all Pagebound. Who turned you into a lifelong reader?
A teacher, a family member, a librarian? Can you remember what book it was that turned the light on?
My main reading influence was my maternal Grandmother and Aunt who used to read to me when they looked after me as a child and teen (to help with writing and language issues). The book that made me read as a teen was eitherPeeling the Onion by Wendy Orr or The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton.

hello lovely PB folks
i wanna know which series you have completely unintentionally (or intentionally) abandoned, bc i hope i'm not the only one to have unfinished series in her shelf 💀 rip
and i don't mean series you have DNF'ed bc they turned out to not be your taste, i mean like series you started reading and ended up actually liking. maybe also even already getting the sequel to continue but then for it to end up on your TBR bc other books where just more interesting 💀😭
for me it's the Caraval, The Prison Healer and Daughter of the Pirate King Series 🥲 for all these series i already own the 2nd book but they've ended up on my TBR 💀 and i fear they'll continue to be there for a while 😬 i still wanna read them tho!
spill the tea guys, which series are still waiting for you to finish them and why 😔

So my question is fairly simple. If your fave book or your current book is was an animal or had animal traits what would it look like? Or if it were human what would it look like, be wearing?
Zoomorphism is the literary and artistic practice of attributing animal forms, traits, or behaviors to humans, gods, or inanimate objects.
Anthropomorphism is the attribution of human traits, emotions, intentions, or physical characteristics to non-human entities, such as animals, inanimate objects, or natural phenomena.

I get a little sad and envious when I see that people can read like 120+ books a year, and I can manage 12 if I try reaaaaaally hard.
I can't get any of the seasonal badges because reading that many books in that amount of time is impossible for me.
Any tips to not be so sad about it? I'm not looking for tips to read faster, honestly I've tried everything under the sun and I'm pretty much as fast as I'm ever going to get.
I'd definitely like to follow more people who self-identify as a slow reader, so I don't feel so alone 🥺 I'm definitely the slowest reader I know and it gets lonely down here 😭

What is a book that completely surprised and shocked you with how good it was? How about what is the most disappointing book you have read (this doesn’t mean it was bad but just didn’t live up to what you thought it was going to be)?

What's a book world you wish you could visit and what's one that you absolutely wouldn't want to find yourself in? 🗺️📖

Hi everyone!
With the Spring Readalong almost here (March - May 2026), I wanted to do a readalong for this quest to go along!
I’ll comment three options, please upvote the book you’re most interested in reading and I’ll announce the winner on the last week of February.
Excited to see what book gets chosen 💕

I've seen a few posts where the audience is assumed to be American and it made me curious about how many users are actually American? Objectively speaking it makes sense that the majority is but I wish there was a statistic for it (just out of curiosity).

What is the one book you will always recommend to anyone, be they complete stranger or someone you know?
For me it is The Agony and the Ecstasy by Irving Stone. Historical fiction about Michelangelo’s life. It was absolutely riveting to me and made me obsessed with his sculpture work for some time specifically the lost sculptures. It is also the only novel that my mother and I have both read and something about that just sits right with me. Maybe because we have no commonality in our reading tastes otherwise. Weirdly I have never met anyone else who has read it, even though I know my mom read it for a book club while living in Sardinia and sent it to me on a whim when she was done with it.
