I would class this as a fantastical romance? I don't know what other think? I wouldn't call it romantasy, because it's mostly set in the real world. And at if's heart this book is about love, romantic, found family. Ugh the found family in here hits so hard.

I loved the Spanish in here as well. You can tell it was written by a bilingual person, because none of it felt forced.

Highly recommend the audiobook! Both narrators are amazing. Though, I'm also definitely going to look up the drawings!

As with all previous Suri books I've read, I loved this so much. She does fantasy so well!

The focus on the two main female characters, both strong, but with complex backgrounds and trying to find their confidence and strength after * trauma *. I enjoyed other POVs when they were necessary, but there were just the right amount of them. I was never annoyed that we switched to someone less important, because it was essential to get their side for the plot. And that also helped with understanding this world. There are so many players, that it helped with feeling a bit less lost at the beginning.

This is very much a fantasy story that has some sapphic romance elements. Which I definitely didn't mind. I don't need my fantasy novels to revolve around a romance. But don't get me wrong, I still need these two to be together by the end of the trilogy.

Can't wait for the next one.

Is this the best series I've ever read? F yeah, it's up there! At no point did I know where this was going. Just along for the ride. Carissa is making me have BIG FEELINGS, I hate her so much. I'm in love. I'm gonna need a little break before I tackle the next one. You know, for my sanity.
