Strong start. Slow, repetitive middle. Anticlimactic end. Wanted to love it but all the characters, including our narrator, felt too one dimensional and predictable.

    Should I DNF? Ch. 25 / 30%

Just finished Chapter 25 (classroom scene) and it left me shocked and grossed out—surely that’s the point but…oof. I have read other books like this but most skirted around the explicit details and focused on character studies or other themes.

But this? I don’t know if I can sit through anything more detailed than Ch 25. So for those farther along than me, or folks who have finished the book, how many MORE scenes are there like this? Like if I can’t deal with this chapter, do I need to cut my losses and just DNF?

    • Too disjointed of a storyline • The relationship between Charlie and Eve felt more like a friendship, very hard to believe they were partners • Repetitive writing, author often used the same words in back to back sentences—made prose feel stagnant • Audiobook “transition” noise between documentation and the actual story felt out of place and wayyyy too screechy • Audio performances were pretty good
