mehh this was ok, but I never felt like I fully connected with the characters. Somehow it felt rushed but also dragged at the same time. I definitely preferred the other books I've read by Meryl Wilsner to this one.

My niece is turning 11 soon and has asked for classic books for her birthday. She’s currently reading The Bookwanderers where the MC meets characters from books like Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Anne of Green Gables. (She’s read those two already though!)
What were some of your favorite classics at that age? Or what do you wish you had read then?

It took me a little bit to get fully into it, but by part 2 I couldn't put it down. I don't read much fantasy, but I was looking forward to trying this one out after finishing Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil earlier this year. I was not disappointed!
I really enjoyed seeing how Constanta evolved over time and getting a glimpse into the different relationships and dynamics she had with the other characters as they traveled from place to place. I was worried at first with how flowery the language was, but I ended up really appreciating the poetry of it all. It felt super fast paced and the ending was so satisfying!
