I absolutely loved this book! I got into it so fast and couldn’t put it down. None of the story was predictable in my opinion, I loved all of the characters, and especially loved how witty and relatable Sonia was. I always love how Kingfisher includes real facts and science in her stories as well. Unexpected but satisfying conclusion. And I’ll definitely be up all night worried about creepy crawlers

I really enjoyed this book! It was slow at times and it took a while to get to the exciting parts, but I think it was worth it. The characters were so unlike any I’ve read before, Anja was relatable and complex. Just reading her thoughts was interesting for me. I also loved the unexpected romance. The conclusion was satisfying as well!

My favorite read so far this year. Absolutely beautiful writing, the characters were written so well and had depth. The plot was expansive and I never knew what was going to happen next. And the romance was beautiful and by the end had my heart torn open and stitched together again!

Good for her. I needed this book more than ever amidst all the rampant misogyny and hate spreading like disease.

I absolutely loved this book! I loved the characters and the setting. The plot isn’t too slow and keeps you on your toes. The romance doesn’t get too detailed and it takes a while but I found it worth it. Overall, loved this read and it was very impactful especially in our current political climate.

This book was a horrific fever dream. I was racing to finish it, constantly waiting for what would happen next. The plot was so unique and made me truly think through every page I read. I loved the sapphic elements as well. Overall, I highly recommend to those who love horror and can handle some creepy and gorey elements!

Caitlin Starling is a genius! I knew I had to read this book after reading “The Starving Saints” in March, and boy I was not disappointed. “The Death of Jane Lawrence” started slow but it wasn’t hard for me to get into and continuing reading. By the end I was mind-blown and extremely satisfied with the conclusion. It was creepy, gorey, and at times felt like a hallucination.

I read Slewfoot by Brom in February and knew I had to read another one of his books. The Child Thief was dark, horrifying, witty, and definitely made you question who to trust every turn. I love this take on Peter Pan and was enthralled throughout the entire story. I do wish the conclusion was more satisfying, but overall loved this book.

I started this book and was instantly captivated by it. I read it nonstop and finished it within a few days. I love Johanna Van Veen’s writing. Roos was a relatable and lovable character. The yearning and passion touched me. It was a wonderful mix of feelings and horror.

I read this book in 4 days. It had me reading at all times of the day and I was enthralled! It was dark, creepy, and unsettling. I related to the main character so much it made the gore and horror oddly comforting. Definitely one of my new favorites, but I wouldn’t suggest it to anyone with a weak stomach.

I adored this book! The writing was beautiful and the plot was exciting and kept me on the edge of my seat. It was a bit slow at times but it was all worth it in the end. I do wish we got to know some of the side characters a bit more especially since they played such a large part in the book. But otherwise I highly suggest!

This is not at all what I was expecting from this book but I absolutely loved it!! I adored the bleak, medieval setting, and the descriptions were great. I love the main character and felt her easy to relate to. The plot was interesting and is definitely one of those “good for her” reads.

Overall, I had a good time with this book and I definitely suggest reading it!!

I love Caitlin Starling, she’s one of my favorite authors, but this just didn’t hit the mark for me. It would slow, pick up, then slow, and overall it felt very disjointed. Now, this was purposeful for the plot of the book, but it just didn’t help me really get into it or engage. I did absolutely love the plot and idea, the writing was excellent, but I wish it was executed a bit differently.

I still suggest this book and think it’s a high quality read. Don’t read if you’ve got a weak stomach

This had a very slow start but I didn’t have trouble getting into it. I loved the historical aspects, the descriptions were very vivid, and I had trouble relating to Lenore at first but it didn’t take me long to fall in love with her.

The ending was one of the most satisfying conclusions I’ve read in a while, and it released all the tension I was holding since about 60% in 😭

I definitely recommend this book and I’ll be re-reading it eventually
