If you strongly feel like there is a book missing from the list, put it here.
And if, at any point, there is a new release you think I should be aware of, I’d love to hear about it!
Please remember to be kind when recommending.

An introduction to the Horror genre, these books are part of the cultural zeitgeist or the 'canon' that many would recognize. Look for more niche titles in later Starter Pack volumes.

'You're going to stay for a while, then?' I said. 'Yes, I am.' He leaned over and put his arm around me. 'I'm going to stay for a while. Is that okay?' 'Yeah, that's fine.'
The Story of the Night is a 1996 novel told from the perspective of Richard Garay, an Argentinian man whose parents immigrated from Britain. The novel is set to the backdrop of the Argentian sixties, seventies and eighties, a time of political upheaval Richard finds himself close to the center of. Richard's personal life and sexuality are at the core of this book--especially how Richard, in hiding himself to keep safe, moulds himself into someone agreeable to those around him to the point he seems not to know entirely who he is.
Colm Tóibín writes with a haunting simplicity: these are the facts, and the pit left in your stomach at the end of the novel is your own to deal with.
