truly, I kind of wish I never decided to read this. the actual concept is what made me read this as it expands on the usual omegaverse trope, with the idea that the designations came from an event called the 'cataclysm'. I did enjoy this part due to how different it was within this genre.

however, I may be reaching but this book felt like a barely disguised fetish fantasy. for starters, the relationship of these characters felt like borderline pedophilia. the fmc of this book was described multiple times to be "ripe", and this paired with descriptions that had connotations of being small and weak... a child. I also couldn't pin point her exact age but if I could take a guess she would be around 18-19 years old, and considering definitely atleast one of the men has greying hair and has already served in the military I would put him at atleast 35. also the language at moments felt fetishised in other ways, for example the overuse of the word "butt". now this isn't inherently a weird word, but pairing with the pedophilic descriptions (its more commonly used by children) and it being used in moments that the majority of authors use words like hips or waist, it was definitely intentional. another thing I noticed was the pregnancy. as a person I don't like the pregnancy trope but I coped enough considering it happened near the end of the book. my issue with this was that the only other women found or mentioned in this book that weren't the fmcs mother were pregnant or with babies. now this literally due to time frame implications and nature of the designations within this book means that every woman so far mentioned was "bred"* probably extremely quickly, considering that they had only been alphas and omegas for 13 months at this point. considering omegas are supposed to be extremely rare, this denotes to me that they would have less likely been found straight away if they were not in a condensely populated area like the city, which they were not due to the fact that somehow they are all walking to the city at the same time. *now my use of the word "bred" sounds so out of place and I hate using it in this context. I am not shaming fetishes (unless it's pedophilia). but that was a word taken from this book so felt usable. but this was my main reason for seeing this book as a fantisization. the whole time from the beginning of the characters meeting, this was a big part of dialogue and characters pov's. this was with no validation of their growing relationship from a reader pov.
