World is facing an apocalypse but turns out thats not the most scariest bit of all.
I really like the cosmic horror aspect of it all, but other than the homeless man being the MVP of the story, Remina's entire existence seems to be merely for torture, with her own character traits being that she loves her father and also the manager? Even though we were told that they have feelings for each other, we never really see them fleshed out as one.
Props to Junji Ito for an accurate depiction of idol worship, obsession and religious psychosis tho, i totally didn't feel disgusted with those 2 men

about the book itself: • unboxing from the dark web gone wrong, got high after that, and then they're being psychologically and physically tortured • these buddies could die from lung cancer bcuz they smoke SMOKE 🚬🚬🚬
• really interesting friend group dynamics and you'll have some of the other characters' pov in their events so that's fun(not for them) and i really like how it keeps u anxious and waiting for what's going to happen next • im not really mad on how the characters written but i wish nadia and dira were written with more nuance • i love how creepy the horror elements were and yes i did find it terrifying, shocking and even disgusting
• downside would be constantly describing stuff unrelated to the plot in Sid's pov (main lead) its quite distracting • i don't need to see sid constantly telling us that they're like a family or sumth • the dialogues are a mix with malay+eng, but sum of them were really awkward in the early pages
• this book left with me feeling drained honestly, nice story, solid plot, a bit cruel(?) but oh well no one asked you to buy a mystery box from the dark web anyways so who am i to judge?

Everyone's having the worst moments of their lives and for some reason one of my night lights decided to give up on me before going to sleep. Wonderful.

okay so the book REALLY likes explaining moments that aren't really relevant to the plot
And the dialogue is painfully awkward with the mix of its english and malay. But the manglish is really BAD here.

I love that we get to immediately see what they found in the box, makes me anxious on what's going to happen in the rest of the book
