This was a struggle and definitely would have been a dnf had it not been the final book of the trilogy.
The writing was awful with points being repeated ad nauseam. For the whole book we were told and not shown, never able to make our own conclusions but instead spoon fed. Except for a couple of incredibly obvious twists that the main character seemed oblivious to even though she has a literal god inside her head telling her every plot point and pitfall.
Imagine in the morning the FMC sets something on fire, then a couple of pages later it is the afternoon and they need fire - “I thought back, remembering that this morning I created a fire”. Then a voice in her head says “you are the fire maker”. FMC says “I think I can create a fire now too” then everyone gasps and claps as she does it. It’s seriously this bad for the whole book making tense moments laugh out loud funny because it’s so ridiculous.
I really enjoyed the first book, the second was okay and classic middle book of a trilogy, and I had the release date of the third in my calendar and was super hyped for it. I raved to my friends about this series and got them to read the first and second one too. Now having shared some screenshots of the writing in this third one they seem to be just as disappointed as me and won’t be picking it up. Is this what happens when books are rushed out without editing? Did I completely gloss over some terrible writing in the first and second book?
Idk how to finish this review, sorry if the author ever reads it.

ok so I LOVED the first book, the second book less so. Now with the third I’m surprised by how bad the writing seems to be? Was I blinded in the first two?? It’s so focused on telling and not showing which is making it quite a basic read which sucks. Fingers crossed I get sucked back in

I genuinely think this is one of the worst books I have ever read. The writing needs a LOT more editing. Most of the time, it came across as word vomit with loads of unnecessary descriptions and repetitive long chapters, but somehow minimal world building and plot holes galore.
Also, was the slowburn in the room with us?? The romance was pure insta-lust and their relationship was soley based on physical attraction (stop calling books like this "enemies to lovers"!).
The dialogue was diabolical — it was like listening to teenagers who have discovered swear words for the first time. Please don't even get me started on the "banter" and icky sexual comments.
