I knew I shouldn't have put this off so long! I had wanted to read this book since I saw it in the list of White Pine nominations for grades 9-12 fiction, in 2024. Out of all the books, graphic novels and novels alike, this was the one that intrigued me the most, but I didn't have the chance to read it then. Though, I did read some of its tough contenders, such as Gorgeous Gruesome Faces and The Space Between Here and Now (a well deserving winner!).

Still! This was such a beautiful story. Liska is such a compelling character. She's sweet and super likeable. She's so very kind and compassionate, even if she thinks herself to be a monster. I utterly loved this story and Liska's journey through out the book. Though, be prepared, the tale is not all sunshine and rainbows. Overall, such an excellent read, worthy of its nomination!
