“I’d sooner defend the image of me as a hideous, withered hag, rather than the image of me as a coy, quiet, sexualized teenaged girl. It’s appalling that I was trained to behave the way I was when I was younger, and I think of it as a societal betrayal, and a depraved way to treat girls.”

the way I put a hold on this book six weeks ago and it’s only now come in. I’m glad Emily Austin is so popular but it’s very inconvenient for me personally lol

Emily Austin is probably the author I’ve read the most books from (her and Alice Oseman), and every time I start a new book of hers I feel right at home. her writing style has become so familiar to me, and I know I’m in good hands.

as someone who used to work in a library like the protagonist does, this is already bringing up memories of that time. yes: sometimes patrons do watch porn on the computers. no: I didn’t witness anyone having sex in the shelves (thank god!!) however, someone did pee in the elevator one time.

"A patron is watching porn out loud" as the opening line is how you know this author has actually worked in a library lol

The writing style being different from the previous books is making this one more difficult to read for me. But I am really curious to see what will happen
